Our School

Our School

Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Primary School is a co-educational primary school catering for students in Donvale and the surrounding areas. The first stage of Our Lady of the Pines was completed for opening in early 1978 with an enrolment of 147 students. In 1990 the church was built and the community became an independent parish.

A three-stage building program was completed in 1986 and in 1997 a new building containing six learning areas was added.  In 1999, four of the original classrooms were replaced with a new brick-veneer complex containing four new learning areas and amenities.  Major refurbishment of the original building took place in 2008.

The Physical Education and Community Enrichment Centre (P.E.A.C.E. Centre), a performing arts and basketball court with adjoining meeting and office rooms, was constructed under the ‘Building Education Revolution’ program. This building, which was funded by the Federal government and the school, was completed in 2010.

In 2018, the school undertook a $2.65 million refurbishment to the school.  This project has provided a new and welcoming administration entry to the school and enhances the wonderful facilities and grounds we have at Our Lady of the Pines.

Mission Statement

At Our Lady of the Pines we encourage Catholic practices by sharing the knowledge, beliefs, values and ethos of the church.  The staff brings with them a diverse range of faith experiences which provide students with models of adult Christian life.

The school in collaboration with families provides the opportunity for students to make a personal commitment to God through prayer, Sacraments and participation in the faith journey.

Our Lady of the Pines is a place, which fosters the development of positive self-esteem and strives to provide a safe and secure environment where every individual is treated with respect and justice.

Our Lady of the Pines is a place, which represents a challenging and stimulating curriculum that is comprehensive and allows and encourages individual students to develop at their potential - effort as well as achievement is valued.

Through a learner-centred curriculum students are encouraged to be active, independent learners who take increasing responsibility for their learning.

Our Lady of the Pines is a place where a family atmosphere prevails and parents and the wider community are encouraged to participate in many programs and feel welcomed and appreciated.
